HMRC remind taxpayers who have claimed EIS deferral relief about crystalising events

HMRC’s Wealthy Team have begun issuing One to Many letters to some of those taxpayers who claimed EIS deferral relief in 2012/13 and 2013/14 reminding them of the five events which will cause the deferred gain to crystalise. These letters are meant as reminders, rather than suggesting these events have occurred to the recipients; but if any such events have taken place, then recipients are advised to amend their tax returns accordingly or contact HMRC if further help is needed.
