An interview with Prof. Judith Freedman
As part of the Tax House Tax Payer's Conference, an event support by ADIT, Tax Notes International contributing editor Nana Ama Sarfo caught up with leading international tax expert Prof. Judith Freedman for a wide-ranging interview.
Judith talked about her background and route into the tax world; her distinguished career as a tax educator at the London School of Economics and University of Oxford; her achievements including contributing to the development of the UK's GAAR regime and the establishment of the MSc in Taxation at Oxford; and her role as a mentor to emerging tax practitioners.
Judith also spoke of her ongoing efforts to help encourage other women who share her talent and passion for tax into a profession in which many barriers continue to persist. Nana and Judith discussed the areas in which progress towards gender equality has been made, within both academia and professional practice, as well as some examples from Judith's own experience of the attitudes and assumptions that need to be challenged and overcome.
