Who is AI for Tax aimed at?

AI for tax is aimed at tax professionals working in both practice and industry who want to gain a foundational knowledge of AI and GenAI as they relate to working in tax. It is aimed at those who have completed the Diploma in Tax Technology and wish to gain further knowledge in AI, as well as those who want a "taster" of the kind of learning they would find in the DITT.

Do I need to be an existing member or student of the CIOT or the Association of Taxation (ATT) to do this qualification?

No.

Are there any pre-requisites to enroll on the course?

No, but you should have a basic knowledge of the principles of taxation.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

We advise that the course takes approximately eight hours to complete.

What is the course structure?

There are five modules to complete in total.

How much overlap does the course have with the Diploma in Tax Technology?

The AI for Tax course content is original and there is limited overlap with AI coverage in the Diploma in Tax Technology. It provides a more detailed and focused overview of AI than the DITT, with new case studies, exercises and quizzes.

You can consider the AI for Tax short course as both an "add-on" to, or a "taster" of the Diploma in Tax Technology.

When can I start the AI for Tax short course?

Registration for the AI for Tax short course will open in December 2024. Register your interest to receive updates and first access to the course.

How much does it cost?

The course costs £80, including all learning materials and quizzes.

Can I register on this course outside the UK?

No, we are currently only accepting registrations from the UK.

Can I invoice my employer for the registration fee?

No, we are only able to accept online card payment for the registration fee.

Is there a set time in which I need to complete the course?

You have one year to complete the course.

How often will the course materials be updated?

The course materials will be updated every year, with the first update scheduled for November 2025.

How do I study?

All the training is delivered is online and on-demand via the Tolley Academy. There is no in-person tuition. You will study for each module in sequence, using a range of materials including podcasts, webinars, slides, exercises and quizzes.

Can I study the modules in any order I like?

No. You must study the modules in sequence and complete each quiz before you progress to the next. You must complete all ten quizzes in total to complete the Diploma.

How do I get the training materials?

You will receive access to the Tolley Academy by email once you have registered with the CIOT.

Are there assessments?

There are no assessments for the AI in Tax short course. You are required to complete ten quizzes throughout the course of your learning. However, there are no pass/fail marks for these.

Will I get a certificate for completing the course?

Yes, once you have completed all ten quizzes, you will receive a certificate of completion indicating you have undertaken eight hours of AI for tax training.

Will the course count towards Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements?

Yes, studying for the course will count towards annual CPD requirements for CIOT and ATT membership.
