Helen Whiteman
Chair of the webinar, Helen Whiteman joined the CIOT in September 2019 following being Chief Executive of CILEx Regulation Limited, a role she held since 2015. She studied Law at De Montfort University, before undertaking a Masters in IT at the University of Warwick. As Chief Executive of the CIOT Helen’s vision is to strengthen the tax profession through leading the CIOT membership, education and driving a relevant policy agenda.

Peter Cheese
Peter is the CEO of the CIPD, the professional body for HR and People Development. He is also Chair of Engage for Success, was Chair of What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and sits on the Board of the College of Policing. He sits on many forums linked to wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, routes in to work and skills, flexible working, and corporate governance. Peter writes and speaks widely on the development of HR, the future of work, and the key issues of leadership, culture and organisation, people and skills. In 2021, his second book ‘The New World of Work’ was published, exploring the many factors shaping work, workplaces, workforces and our working lives, and the principles around which we can build a future that is good for people, for business and for societies. He is a Fellow of the CIPD, a Fellow of AHRI (the Australian HR Institute).
Tax Technology Partner, RSM
Rob De La Rue
Rob leads the creation and adoption of innovative technology within the RSM Tax practice and for client organisations. His work encompasses both the technical and strategic aspects of technology use in Tax, with extensive involvement in tax-team transformation, technology adoption, and change management.
With a diverse career spanning various branches of Tax, including roles at HMRC, as an in-house Head of Tax, and as a tax consulting Partner, Rob is passionate about leveraging technology to amplify the impact of tax professionals within business, and within society at large.
Rob is a former chair of the CIOT Commerce and Industry Group and serves on panels addressing the benefits, ethics and risks associated with AI development.

Mel Newton
Mel is a Partner in the KPMG People Consulting Practice in the UK which advises clients on workforce, change management, learning and HR solutions, designed to address their key people and talent issues and drive business performance. Mel’s particular areas of focus are Organisational Change and Workforce Design. Mel has worked across industry sectors with extensive experience in Financial Services specifically and has over 30 years of experience working mainly in global professional services organisations prior to KPMG. She has a reputation for leading transformation programmes with passion whilst engaging effectively with leadership, programme teams and employees at all levels.
