Customs Declaration Service Exports Migration - HMRC communications to exporters 'Less than one month to go'

HMRC has contacted Joint Customs Consultative Committee stakeholders to share copies of two communications that will be emailed to Customs Declaration Service (CDS) export declarants on Tuesday 7 May 2024.

The letters remind affected businesses that from 4 June 2024, exporters will no longer be able to make export declarations via the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system, and the CDS must be used instead. The letters also detail the steps that should be taken in order to be ready for the upcoming change and details of the limited exception process.
