HMRC invites discussions with certain taxpayers prior to submitting tax returns

HMRC’s Wealthy External Forum are issuing letters (see the template below) in November inviting selected taxpayers with complex affairs to have a conversation with a Customer Compliance Manager prior to filing their 2021/22 tax returns. The idea is to address any potential areas of complexity before anything is filed – unusual or one-off transactions, and changes in circumstances/life events are cited as the likely topics for discussion. Earlier this year, a similar exercise was carried out, and these latest letters constitute a continuation of this.
