HMRC One to Many letter to individuals who drive for an online platform
3 Nov 2022
HMRC have been sending a letter to certain taxi drivers who drive for an online platform, such as Uber or Lyft. The letter explains that HMRC have information that shows that the individual has not told them about some or all of the income they have earned from this work. It is likely that HMRC will have received this information from the online platforms using their data gathering powers. A news article with further information about these letters, and what to do if you receive one, can be found on the CIOT’s Low Incomes Tax Reform Group’s website.
