HMRC’s One To Many letters to Persons of Significant Control earning below £100,000

HMRC’s Wealthy External Forum will be sending One To Many letters to those registered at Companies House as being ‘Persons of Significant Control’ (PSC). One set of letters is aimed at those whose income in 2020/21 was lower than they would expect – below £100,000. The letter will be asking the recipients to check that their 2020/21 return was correct and reminding them to adjust their tax position in their 2021/22 returns if (amongst other things): their company pays for personal costs, or gives them a loan or allows company assets to be used personally. Another set of letters will go to those who are PSC but do not appear to have filed tax returns at all. These letters are going out this month.
