Please see the following message which we are sharing on behalf of HMRC:
This HMRC Stakeholder Digest provides a round-up of our latest news and updates, which we’d be grateful if you could share with your clients, customers, or members.
Tax credit renewals
Tax credits help working families with targeted financial support, so it is important that people don’t miss out on money they are entitled to.
We will be sending out about 2.1 million renewals packs to tax credits customers by 27 May.
Customers should check their details in the pack and report any changes in circumstances. The deadline to renew tax credits is 31 July 2021 otherwise payments may stop.
Renewing online is quick and easy. They can also use the HMRC app on their phone to:
- renew their tax credits
- check their tax credits payments schedule, and
- find out how much they have earned for the year
Customers can get help and information by going to tax credits: general enquires on GOV.UK.
Reporting fraud: use our new online service
We are encouraging customers to report suspected tax fraud via our improved online service on GOV.UK.
In 2021, we received 72,538 online fraud reports and 14,260 by phone. The telephone hotline receives a significant number of calls meant for other bodies. However, the revamped service offers guidance on matters that should – and should not be – reported to us.
Although we are encouraging use of the online service, callers can still telephone the hotline on 0800 788 887 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
