HMRC update on Agent view of employer liabilities and payments
7 Oct 2021
We understand that on Tuesday 5 October, HMRC extended their Agent view of employer liabilities and payments to agents with up to 2,000 clients. A notification of this has been published on the Agent Forum.
A link to the new service is not being provided by HMRC. Instead, access will be by invitation when an eligible agent logs in to the service. HMRC’s advice is:
“If you are an agent with up to 2,000 clients, you may be eligible to use the new service early in October. By mid-October, you may be eligible if you have fewer than 5,000 clients. You will be asked to confirm whether you wish to join the trial. If you choose not to, you will be able to continue to use the original service as normal.”
The HMRC Rollout plan
- HMRC are pleased to report that agents with up to 1,000 clients can now sign up
- From Tuesday 5 October, agents with up to 2,000 clients will be able to sign up
- From Tuesday 12 October, agents with up to 5,000 clients will be able to sign up
- HMRC will let us know the timetable for further increases by 25 October
Further changes HMRC are making to the new service following user feedback
- When you first opt in to use the service, you will need to click to confirm that you act for a client before you can see the liabilities and payments data. In response to the recent user testing, HMRC will be removing this part of the process towards the end of October. If you are accessing the service before then, you may decide to only confirm the clients you wish to view rather than all clients.
- If you have a large employer client list, for example over 2,000, it may take several seconds for details to load. HMRC are planning to reduce loading times over the coming months.
