The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) has been honoured with a prestigious tax award.

LITRG won the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Taxation in 2023-24 by a Not-for-profit Organisation’ at the Tolley’s Taxation Awards, which took place on Thursday 16 May at the Hilton London Metropole.

The award recognises the important role played by non-profits in the tax world, and LITRG received the award for its work providing guidance and campaigning to make the tax system work better for those unable to pay for advice.

The other organisations nominated in the category were the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), the ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) Tax Team and The Crypto UK Tax Working Group.

Technical Officer Meredith McCammond, along with CIOT Chief Executive Helen Whiteman and Public Policy Director Ellen Milner, represented LITRG at the ceremony.

Victoria Todd, Head of LITRG, said:

“We are thrilled to have won this award, which is testament to the hard work of our team and our volunteers.

“Last year marked the 25th anniversary of the start of LITRG’s work to make the tax system better for those least able to afford tax advice.

“I am so proud of the team I lead and of everyone who has contributed to LITRG over the last quarter of a century.

“Receiving this recognition for what was a milestone year for the organisation is extra special. Our congratulations to all of the other winners and nominees.”
