VAT: reminder that scam emails are in circulation

We have received feedback about current HMRC phishing emails in circulation, this one targeting VAT (copied below), and the email quoted the business recipient’s company name in the email header.

HMRC do not embed weblinks in emails to update a ‘VAT verification’ so businesses and staff who deal with VAT should remain vigilant. We have deactivated the link that was embedded into the email below.

Phishing emails should be reported to HMRC.
