What Clayton says:
"I am responsible for the Structured Finance investment banking product team at Standard Bank, the largest bank in Africa (measured by assets) and have more than 20 years of cross-border international tax and bespoke transaction structuring experience.
Prior to joining Standard Bank in 2012, I was an International Tax Partner with a leading UK law firm, where I advised global multinationals, private equity sponsors and ultra-high net worth family offices in relation to UK, South African and international tax implications arising from their inbound and cross border transactional activities.
Achieving ADIT was an intellectually challenging and deeply rewarding professional experience! To me, the ADIT credential represents ‘a true badge of honour’ – ensuring a consistently high academic baseline among all ADIT holders – irrespective of geographical location.
Studying for ADIT required that I ‘reset’ my existing international tax knowledge base and resulted in my gaining a far deeper appreciation of how the international tax regime actually fits together from ‘both an academic and practical perspective’ – which not only satisfied my intellectual curiosity but also continues to give me the professional confidence to speak with authority in relation to international tax matters.
The ADIT global network also provides a natural conduit to satisfy the on-going ADIT professional CPD requirements – ensuring that all ADIT charter holders are able to continue to grow their technical and practical international tax technical knowledge base - in the relentless pursuit of excellence in the field of international tax.
I look forward to promoting the benefits of the ADIT qualification, and Affiliate subscriptions, to accountancy and tax professionals across the Southern Africa region.”
