Manage your exams

If you are ready to enter for an exam, or you are planning your studies, you will find all the information you need about the exams here.

How to contact us

We are not able to deal with any phone enquiries on the days of the ADIT exams (including voicemail messages). This is because we need to prioritise responding to exam-related emails and this takes all our resources. If it's the day of your exam (please make it clear in the subject line), your query will be answered as a high priority and as soon after receipt as possible. Our inbox is constantly monitored during the exams. If you need to contact us, email us at [email protected].

For any other ADIT queries, please also email us at [email protected] rather than calling us on exam days. Your query will be directed to the appropriate person and responded to as soon as possible, but please bear in mind that exam-related emails will be prioritised. Please do not use any other email address or your query may take longer to receive a reply.

Online exams

The ADIT exams are held online using your own laptop or desktop computer, meaning you will now be typing your answers. Whether this is a completely new exam method for you, or you've sat online exams with us before, we have a lot of helpful information to help you plan for a successful exam day.

How it works

Sitting online exams, you’ll use a purpose-built exam application, Exam4, on your laptop or desktop computer. You can sit the exam at a location of your choice, such as your home or office.

To enable you to sit exams in a flexible location, we have published new rules for online exams. Familiarise yourself with the new regulations and equip yourself with the information you need for your exams.

What's new?

Did you sit online ADIT exams with Exam4 before 2023? The main change that you'll likely notice when you come to sit your exam is that the process for opening your question paper at the start of the exam has changed.

How to start your exam

Because of the way the question paper is now accessed, on exam day you will only be able to complete your pre-exam setup at your scheduled exam start time. As it will take a couple of minutes to complete the setup, capture your exam ID and access your question paper, this means you will likely start your exam a little after your scheduled start time. However, as you have a 15-minute window in which to start your exam, this will not be a problem – as long as you open your question paper to start the exam within this 15-minute period, you will not lose any time.

For example, if you open the question paper 5 minutes after your scheduled start time, you can finish your exam 5 minutes after your scheduled finish time. We encourage you to complete your candidate checklist and make a note of the time at which you start your exam – this will help you ensure that you finish at the correct time, and get the full 3 hours 15 minutes in which to answer the questions.

About the Exam4 app

Exam4 is used by a number of leading universities and institutions across Europe and North America. Used by thousands of students since we introduced it in 2014, it has a proven track record for reliability and student satisfaction: ADIT students who have used it say their experience has been very positive. Exam4 is designed with simplicity at its core, so that you can focus on your exam.

Compatible with most IT setups

You can use Exam4 on a wide range of laptop and desktop computers; you don't need the latest technology. You only need to be connected to the internet when you launch the exam and when you submit your answers at the end, so a stable internet connection isn't essential.

What are the advantages of typing your exam?

There are a number of advantages to sitting exams this way.

  • Flexibility during the exam
Do you remember a time when you finished an answer in an exam, only to think of a crucial point minutes later? With cut, copy and paste functions built into Exam4, you can edit your answers at any time during your exam – without having to cross things out.
  • More comfortable
Does your writing hand ache after a long exam? Or does it just feel strange writing by hand when you spend so many hours typing on a computer each day? By typing your answers using your own computer at home or in your office, you can complete your ADIT exams in a more familiar, comfortable way.
  • Your answers will be easier to read
With an online exam, you will type your answers using a standardised, easily readable font. That means you won’t have to worry about losing marks because an examiner is unable to read your writing. Let your international tax knowledge do the talking instead.
